Desert Yoga Therapy was created by Jayne Robertson over 10-years ago in order to meet the growing need for individualized attention for those wanting to receive the benefits of yoga and meditation practices. Jayne, along with a group of passionate instructors are committed to creating and nourishing a yoga and Pilates environment through a variety of on-going classes. We also offer Yoga Therapy, one-on-one yoga, and Pilates instruction, a variety of workshops, retreats, and teacher training courses. For those who are new to yoga, we offer beginning classes and for those with specific needs, we have a class for you. The practice of yoga can have a variety of benefits. It can reduce stress, tone the body, increase your energy and reduce depression and anxiety. We believe that yoga can fit the needs of anyone who wishes to try it. You can have any kind of body type, be any age, be fit or unfit, have injuries, be flexible, or for that matter, feel mostly inflexible. All bodies are different, and yoga is as much about getting stronger as it is about becoming more flexible.
Even more, it is a process of awakening the connection of our deepest consciousness to our true selves.
About Yoga Therapy
The International Association of Yoga Therapists has recently released their definition of yoga therapy as being the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the philosophy and practice of Yoga.
It is thought that most yoga is therapy-but the practice of Yoga Therapy as a discipline is the application of the traditional tools of yoga (such as postures, breathing techniques, meditation, and self-awareness). As an ancient science of health, well-being, and self- discovery, Yoga Therapy addresses a specific goal or concern of an individual.
