8-Limbs of Yoga-Online Workshop

This 8-week course will be an in-depth study of one area of the Sutras of Patanjali – the Eight-Faceted Path.  When I first began to learn about the eight-limbs of yoga, I began to discover how relevant they work in today’s culture although they were written centuries before. It is the primary framework for daily living-providing practical options for choices that we make and how it may or may not benefit us. One intention of the Eight-fold path is to have a method to keep us living in balance in all realms of who we are and how we express ourselves. Not only is it practical, but it reveals a deeper essence of the mystery and wonder that is found in a spiritually based undertaking. The Sutras are meant to be studied across a lifetime, so whether this is your first exposure to them or you are experienced with being on the path, this course is for you.

Each week we will uncover the deeper implications and practices of each of the limbs. It will include a weekly online meeting via Zoom (which will be recorded in case you are unable to join live) and during that meeting, you will create your practices for the upcoming week. It will include contemplation, discussion, physical postures, breathing, and meditation. It may or may not include all of those each week but by the end of the course, you will have established a deeper connection not only to the Eight-Limbs of Yoga but to your own home-based practice.

We know that yoga is so much more than the poses you practice and studying the philosophical basis of the practice is truly a mystery to behold. It supports you no matter where you are in your life and studying the Sutras enables us to adapt our own practices to the dynamic and ever-changing self of body, mind, and spirit.
